Degree Conferral and Diploma Information
Diplomas are not awarded at any of the ceremonies.
The Office of Graduation Review and Diploma Services will mail your diploma to you after degree requirements have been certified. The certification and conferral of your degree takes place a minimum of one week after grades are due for the semester in which your degree is being conferred.
The official degree conferral date for Fall semester 2016 is January 6, 2017.
If you have had a legal name change, you must visit the Enrollment Services Center (on your campus) with proof (Marriage license, Divorce Decree, etc.). Name changes for the Fall 2016 semester must be submitted by January 6, 2017. Note: Your legal name on record at Georgia State University will be the name printed on your diploma.
Diplomas are mailed to students six to eight weeks after the official date of degree conferral (based on the delivery of printed diplomas and preparation for mailing). All financial obligations to the University must be cleared before it can be mailed.
If you need to change your mailing address or personal information in PAWS, do so prior to commencement so your diploma will be mailed to the correct location. All address updates must be submitted online no later than January 6, 2017 to ensure proper delivery of your diploma. Unfortunately, we are unable to ship diplomas to P.O. boxes at this time. Your diploma/mailing address must be a physical address.
Diplomas are mailed to your mailing address on record in PAWS.
Certified Diploma: To order a certified copy of your diploma, you must bring your original or a copy of your original diploma to the Office of Graduation Review and Diploma Services (75 Piedmont Avenue, Suite 1150) and fill out a Certified Diploma Request. The Office of Graduation Review and Diploma Services will have your diploma notarized and signed by the University Registrar.
International Student Invitation Letter: To order an International Student Invitation Letter, you must come to the Office of Graduation Review and Diploma Services (75 Piedmont Avenue, Suite 1150) and fill out the Invitation Letter Request Form. In order for the Office of Graduation Review and Diploma Services to produce an Invitation Letter, the student must have already applied for graduation. The letter will be produced and signed by the University Registrar. Each student may request up to five (5) letters.
Replacement/Duplicate Diploma To order a replacement copy of your previously awarded diploma, complete the Replacement/Duplicate Diploma Request. The fee is $20.00. Mail your form with payment to the Office of Graduation Review and Diploma Services, P.O. Box 4017, Atlanta, GA 30302-4017 or drop off the completed order form with payment to the Office of Graduation Review and Diploma Services, Citizens Trust Building, 75 Piedmont Avenue, Suite 1150. Forms requesting a diploma must be signed by the requestor. Those coming in person must show a picture ID.
Degree Verification The National Student Clearinghouse acts on behalf of Georgia State University to provide degree verification data to such agencies as third-party verifiers, credit card companies and credit approval agencies. Letter of Completion
A Letter of Completion can be issued by the Office of Graduation Review and Diploma Services when a student has completed all requirements toward their degree but did not apply to graduate on time. To receive a Letter of Completion, please submit your request in writing to the Office of Graduation Review and Diploma Services, with your name, student ID number, academic college, and the name and address of the person or entity to whom it should be mailed. Submit the request to the Office of Graduation Review and Diploma Services in Suite 1150, 75 Piedmont Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30303.
